Spaces

You taught me that kerning is the space between c h a r a c t e r s in a text

And leading the space between lines

The word interval is a direct translation

from the Latin

“space between the walls”

Interstice is at least as obscure as lacuna but without the poetry

A continuous area or expanse which is free, available, unoccupied

Space;

As in gap

As in while

As in room

Room to move or room to occupy

A space in time is called a season

If kerning is the space between characters,

what is the space between breaths?

Between thoughts?

Between two lovers abreast in the night?
